About Me

I like to talk, to cook and to throw dinner parties. I laugh too loudly (and sometimes inappropriately…) I adore camping and making fires and sleeping with my head out of the tent. I like to eat Nesquik out of the tin with a teaspoon. I love the sea and feel uncomfortable in places with no wind. I am good at keeping secrets but bad at pretending to get on with people who I just don’t like. I love to drive, even if I have nowhere to go. I love my herb garden (although I suspect it doesn’t feel the same way about me…) I love to travel and meet new people, eat new food, see things I’ve never seen. I love to read, to learn random things about the world we live it, to hear other peoples opinions, experiences, stories. I like to collect things that have a history. I adore the bananas from the municipal market in Maputo. I love old stuff, second hand stores, pawn shops and street stalls. I love Africa, but most especially South Africa. I love my husband and my dog.

I am Kerry and I take pictures.

I am also one half of a husband-and-wife wedding photography team, he is the feet on the ground and I am the head in the clouds… you can see our  collaborative work at Piteira Photography.

  1. I love your blog, Kerry! Awesome shots from an awesome part of the world! Enjoy!

  2. Hi Kerry, I found you via your WordPress Showcase post… great blog and you get to live in one of my all time favourite countries!
We just spent the last half of August in Portgal on holiday so it’s featuring in my blog at the moment… sadly taking photos whilst towing kids around means that mine are *nowhere* as good as yours (I wish!).. . Take it from me, kids make even worse photographer’s assistants than dogs do LOL.
You have some truely amazing photos (Portugal is sooo photogenic isn’t it?!) and you and I are similar, sharing a love of cooking, collecting, love of writing and photography. I will be back! regards.. Kiwidutch :)

Hey there I love your photos. I am off to South Africa next week with my trusty Nikon. Never stop taking photographs. I am just getting back into it now after leaving it for a while. I love using my Lomo fisheye and film cameras tho I have found digital photography a dream. I am currently experimenting with underwater photography. xx

    • enjoy SA, its a beautiful country and although the water is freezing you can get some spectacular underwater shots in the kelp forests with seals (and if in Cape Town, penguins) swimming around you. Thanks for your comment too!

  4. And what beautiful photos they are!

  5. Hi Kerry, thanks for dropping by my blog. I’m thrilled that you enjoyed your visit! Your self-portrait is magical — really stunning! My father’s family is Portuguese (via Mocambique and the Acores) I so miss Portugal, and look forward to catching glimpses through your blog. xx

  9. Hi Kerry,

I took one look at your blog and I had to click on the “subscribe” button – your photos are absolutely incredible! I’ve always liked photography, but never seriously enough to get the right gear… maybe reading a few more pages of your posts will make me change my mind. I’m looking forward to hearing more tales from Portugal!

  13. Kerry,

We live in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa; As you know, also a surf spot. I am also on WordPress, but also on LiveMocha and BUSUU. The last two are language sites. I use WordPress to give something of my English, on … http://komatieenglish.wordpress.com/
I started doing Spanish and Greek after the Word Cup in 2010, but my interest is extending to Portuguese and Italian as well. I was very pleased about the Portuguese I could read on the website where your wedding photo’s are. Congratulations ! And yes, it is great to share photo’s. I am frustrated at the moment because my digital fell and broke. Till I buy a new one, I am taking photo’s with my cell phone. Very bad quality!

Anyway, good to see a South African, living in Portugal.
Enfim, é bom ver um Sul Africano, residente em Portugal.
De todos modos, es bueno ver a un sudafricano, que viven en Portugal.
