Rome was, of course, amazing… always is. We had a wonderful few days, just about walked ourselves to death and ate enough cheese to last a life-time… and of course took loads of photos. The first time I visited Rome I was completely blown away by the architecture, the history, the way of life… but now that I’ve been living in Europe for 3 years, this time around it didn’t seem quite so foreign. The Italian lifestyle is very similar to the Portuguese (the coffee is better but the driving is much worse, which I didn’t think was possible) and even though I don’t understand one word of what the Italians are saying (they speak so fast!) I could read enough to get by and felt really at home. Plus the Italians are super doggy people, which was a happy surprise… dogs in shops, dogs in restaurants, special doggy sections in the local parks… all of which is completely un-heard of in Portugal! Zé Pequeno would love this place!
This is the first of 3 blog-posts, since there was just too much to do it all at once. We had hoped to catch a bit of spring weather, but the winter is taking ages to leave Europe this year, so while we didn’t have rain, we didn’t have much sun either…
