Porto do Barril

Just a few photos from a sunset walk we did many months ago, back in the summer… they’ve been waiting patiently for me to have some time to edit and blog them. The coastline between Ericeira and Santa Cruz is full of wheat fields, tall cliffs and secret coves… And in other news, I received a notification yesterday that this little blog of mine has reached 1000 followers… which simultaneously surprises and delights me! I have no idea why you have all stuck around since I blog so infrequently but I am so grateful that you have… and even if…

Oporto, Portugal Travel Photography

Oporto

Late last year we drove up north to Oporto to shoot a wedding and the night before we took a wander through the old part of town and along the banks of the Douro. I don’t know this city very well but it has stolen a little bit of my heart and I intend to visit again many times…

São Miguel, Azores. Travel photography Portugal

São Miguel, Azores

The second place I got to visit in the Azores was the island of São Miguel… we flew in to photograph a wedding and spent a few days on the island, exploring. One thing you need to be prepared for on these islands is rain… lots of it, and always when you least expect it. We were lucky in Terceira and only got rain on the last day. São Miguel, unfortunately, wasn’t so kind to us (or our wedding couple!) but in spite of the weather (or maybe because of it… ) this place is incredible. Black rocky beaches, clear…

Portugal roadtrip Day 3 – Praia do Malhão to Sagres

If you haven’t already, then you may want to read Day 1 and Day 2 first… Day 3 took us from Praia do Malhão down to Sagres, the south-western corner of Portugal and the end of our trip. We meandered along, stopping for a while in Vila Nova de Milfontes, Zambujeira do Mar and Carrapateira and while on the last stretch of road before reaching our campsite we saw a cute sign for a little village called Aldeia da Pedralva… so we decided to take a detour. A detour that turned into a caipirinha and then another… and then dinner……

Costa Vicentina, Portugal

Portugal roadtrip Day 2 – Costa Vicentina: Praia da Galé to Praia do Malhão.

Day 2 of our all-girls Portugal road trip… you can find Day 1 here. We spent the night at the campsite at Praia da Galé… which is probably one of my favourites in Portugal. It’s close to the beach, it’s dog friendly, it has loads of trees for shade and it doesn’t suffer quite so much from that horrible delineated-campsite-syndrome that most 1st world country campsites are afflicted by. They actually have an area where you can just pretty much put your tent wherever you want, which is exactly what we did. The following day consisted of an early morning…

Kerry and Tara’s Portugal roadtrip – Day 1 – Ericeira to Praia da Galé.

It seems like another lifetime ago, but really it was only a few months back, in August, that one of my closest friends came over from the UK for a week. Tara and I haven’t been friends since we were little kids, we were both almost finished with university when we first met, and since then we have spent more time on opposite sides of the world than actually being in Cape Town at the same time… me on ships for 5 years and then in Portugal, Tara moving between Germany, Cape Town and now Brighton… and yet in spite…

Still alive, promise!

Oh my sweet little blog, how I miss you! And I have things to share, I promise… I just don’t have time right now to get stuck into personal images. But it’s not to say that this is a bad thing! We’re crazy busy, but it’s a good busy… a fulfilling and exciting busy. One of my bestest-friends-ever came over for a week to visit and we went on a road trip, as we do when we get together (you can see the second last one here). Plus we also got to go to Terceira Island in the Azores recently,…

Rain

We’re not even halfway through the year and I am already failing miserably in my intentions to post here more regularly… it’s a sad truth that I still have photos from South Africa that haven’t even been edited yet, nevermind blogged… Anyway, maybe I’ll get to them one day, but for now, here are some rainy photos, because good grief, we haven’t had quite enough rain recently! Luckily our clients are of the very bravest kind and in spite of the miserable weather since we got back to Portugal (3 rainy weddings and several other shoots) they have all been…

In love with Kalk Bay

You may remember my photos of this gorgeous little town from when we visited last year, but suffice to say that it is definitely one of our favourite places on the Peninsula and we are harbouring secret desires of being able to afford a house here… maybe one day? I’m just putting that out there, so the universe knows what I’m after… This time we visited, we also spent the afternoon with 2 wonderful people, also photographers: Wesley Vorster and Catherine Mac, who we feel like we’ve known since forever and had the best time with, just being silly and…
