Mercearia Do Largo, in Évora´s historic district, recently underwent extensive renovations and have reopened with a brand new look on one of the cities most picturesque squares. In collaboration with Be Aromatic, a local organic herb farm, they have revamped the menu: all locally sourced, all organic and all seasonal ingredients. Their menu is all 100% delicious (and I would know because I ate EVERYTHING) and not only good for you, but also good for the planet. In addition to the restaurant, they also sell Be Aromatic herbs and products, as well as several other locally sourced, organic goodies such…

Observador Lifestyle Magazine | July 2021
Observador Lifestyle Magazine The cookbook, Sal Verde, that I published with Be Aromatic was featured in the most recent edition of the Observador Lifestyle here in Portugal and we are both proud and grateful to have had an article about our work in this lovely magazine! Many thanks to Ana Dias Ferreira, for the feature, and if you’d like to buy a copy of the book (because obviously you want to, why wouldn’t you?!) you can get the English edition HERE and the Portuguese HERE.
Sal Verde – A cookbook
This cookbook project was many years in the making, a passion project for both Rute, the author, and I. We have been friends for many years and had often talked about one day making a cookbook. When the opportunity arose, we jumped at the chance, not knowing that it would be almost 3 years later that our book would be printed and on the shelf. The entire production took place on Rute´s farm in the Alentejo and we cooked and styled and photographed and tasted and then cooked again and then photographed again… and then again just one more time…
Pistola e Corazon Taqueria | Food Photographer Lisbon

Tavira | Algarve
Tavira is another little gem in the Algarve region that, while it´s still a lot more touristy than the Ilha do Farol, it certainly isn´t over-run with the drunk, obnoxious type of tourist… or at least, it wasn´t when we were there (thankfully!) The whitewashed walls and splashes of colour are reminiscent of the Greek isles, although the ubiquitous patterned tiles make it unmistakably Portuguese. As with many of our explorations around Portugal, we were travelling more for work than holidays so this little town left us lots to discover next time, when we aren´t on a tight schedule…
Food and Home Entertaining – November 2014
In November 2014 an article that I both wrote and photographed was published in Food and Home Entertaining, South Africa´s leading food magazine. As a South African living in Portugal it was quite cool to work on this story, it was great to be able to promote Portugal in my home country. This was also a challenge because it´s the first time I´ve written as well as photographed for a magazine… and hopefully it´s something I´ll be able to do again. I tried to focus on lesser-known places in Portugal… everyone knows about Lisbon and the Algarve but Portugal has…

Travel & Leisure Mexico – May 2014
A couple of months ago I was contacted by Travel and Leisure Mexico to shoot a story about the emerging modern food scene in Lisbon. I had the best time on this assignment, it was basically a fabulous combination of my 3 favourite activities… photography, travel and eating! And holy smokes did we eat. I was joined by food journalist Mariana Camacho from Mexico and we spent 5 days surrounded by food and wine in some amazing restaurants. This is the magazine layout as the story was published, CLICK HERE to see some of the out-takes and a few of my…
